Now, I’m not vegan but I appreciate vegan recipes and how they insist you think about food and cooking in another, even more creative, way. I used to work running the bar and restaurant for a vegan/vegetarian cafe in Reading and ever since have had an interest in trying out vegan recipes.
A particularly strict vegetarian friend of mine had this app on her iPod Touch and recommended Vegan Yum Yum free iPhone app to me. It was one of my first app downloads 2 years back and it has remained on my phone ever since.
This app content is powered through the Vegan Yum Yum blog, although I have never visited the blog until today to get the link. I’ve used this app for a number of recipes and for browsing – I frequently favourite the recipes which get stored in a separate tab for viewing later.
The screenshots below show two of the recipes I’ve tried already – amongst many more – and also the favourites listing and the alphabetised recipe listing which is the main interface for the blogs. There are little tick boxes alongside ingredients, which is a cute enhancement to the app – but I never use them.
I’m really intrigued if this app was build
The app is obviously enhanced by the quality of the recipes, as well as the pictures. It also keeps on giving, as more recipes are added and get updated into the app. I haven’t had any problems accessing recipes with no internet or 3G access – a problem I have noticed with other cooking apps.
A very worthwhile download, and some recipes you should absolutely try. I give it 5/5 and heartily recommend a bit of Vegan Yum Yum app loving. Available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
